Kidnapping Victim Rescued by FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team

April 10, 2014 Update: Kidnapping Victim Rescued by FBI Reunited with Family

A man who disappeared from his home in Wake Forest, North Carolina five days ago was rescued in Atlanta, Georgia, by the FBI after a kidnapping plot. Frank Arthur Janssen is now safe after being taken from his home against his will on April 5, 2014.

FBI Charlotte, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the Wake Forest Police Department began an investigation for a missing person that expanded to include numerous law enforcement agencies and determined Janssen was the victim of a kidnapping and was being held inside an apartment in Atlanta, Georgia. Through a coordinated law enforcement effort, the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team rescued Janssen at approximately 11:55 p.m. on April 9, 2014, at a residence inside the New Town Circle apartment complex in Southeast Atlanta.

Janssen’s family has been notified of his rescue. As the family looks forward to being reunited with their loved one, they ask for consideration of their privacy. The investigation is active and ongoing, and no additional details will be released at this time.

The case is being investigated by FBI Charlotte, FBI Atlanta, the Wake Forest Police Department, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, Raleigh Police Department, Durham Police Department, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement, Garner Police Department, North Carolina Highway Patrol, RDU Police, North Carolina Department of Public Safety Probation and Parole, Wake County Sheriff’s Department, City/County Bureau of Identification, Cobb County Police Department, Alpharetta Police Department, Atlanta Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the United States Attorney’s Office Eastern District of North Carolina, the Wake County District Attorney’s Office, and the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office.
