8/12/2017 Update: FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Walter Yovany Gomez was arrested without incident on August 11, 2017, in Woodbridge, Virginia. Details

Mollie Halpern: Alleged murderer and violent MS-13 gang member Walter Yovany Gomez is added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.

An up to $100,000 reward is available for information leading directly to Gomez’s arrest.

Case Agent Daniel Brunner says Gomez sliced his friend’s throat and stabbed him nearly 20 times back in May of 2011 in Plainfield, New Jersey.

Daniel Brunner: His friend never saw it coming. It was really very brutal. His friend never stood a chance.

Halpern: Gomez escaped and was last seen in Maryland.

Brunner: If somehow you know where he is, or if you’re friends with a friend who’s friends with him, I would like you to call 1-800-CALL-FBI. But for safety purposes, if you’re physically near him, dial 911—get the police there as soon as possible.

Halpern: Gomez is the 513th fugitive placed on the famous list. He replaces Marlon Jones, who was captured last year when publicity surrounding the list led to a tip.

With FBI, This Week, I’m Mollie Halpern of the Bureau.
