Mollie Halpern: The FBI’s Cyber Action Team, or CAT, deploys at a moment’s notice to respond, mitigate, and investigate cyber attacks on America and her interests. FBI Director James Comey says intrusions from nation-states are becoming more sophisticated and aggressive.

Director Comey: They are more than just attacks on our infrastructure. They are attacks on our security, on our basic freedoms.

Halpern: Cyber special agents and computer scientists make up the CAT team, and the FBI is seeking to add more cyber talent. A cyber special agent must have…

Director Comey: You need integrity, which is non-negotiable. You need physicality. And obviously a highly sophisticated, specialized technical expertise.

Halpern: While it’s rare to find one person with all three of those qualities, Director Comey says its the FBI's mission that attracts those with the needed skill sets.

Director Comey: The more we show people the nature of our mission and how rewarding it is to have as your mission, as the FBI does, protecting the American people and upholding the Constitution of the United States, that attracts a lot of talent.

Halpern: With FBI, This Week, I’m Mollie Halpern of the Bureau.
