On Long Island, there were threats and extortion for thousands of dollars going on. Retired FBI Special Agent Robert Lewicki worked at the New York FBI office and says various techniques are used to help catch these guys…
Mr. Lewicki: "That would include surveillance; that would include things like information from confidential informants.”
Mr. Schiff: Lewicki says a cooperating individual might record conversations with LCN members and there are other investigative ways…
Mr. Lewicki: "It would include Grand Jury subpoenas for appearances of victims and witnesses.”
Mr. Schiff: Lewicki says the FBI got a court order to bug a ballfield; the bleachers and home plate…
Mr. Lewicki: "Known members and associates of the Colombo crime family meeting at this particular location.”
