J. Britt Johnson, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Atlanta Field Office, in conjunction with the Atlanta Police Department and the Clayton County Police Department, requests the public’s assistance in identifying and apprehending the individuals responsible for today’s armed robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank at 979 Virginia Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia.

On Friday, February 27, 2015, at approximately 9:30 a.m., three masked individuals brandishing handguns entered the Wells Fargo Bank branch located at 979 Virginia Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia. The robbers entered the bank and announced a robbery while shouting, “Someone’s about to die, hurry up.” One of the robbers vaulted the teller counter while a second robber utilized a teller side door to go behind the teller counter. The third robber positioned himself by the entrance of the bank where he remained throughout the robbery.

The robbers, after obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, departed the bank without further incident and were observed getting into a white-colored Nissan Xterra. While that vehicle was not recovered at this point, a substantial amount of stolen bank money and two weapons used in the robbery were recovered. It is believed that the robbers jumped into a switch vehicle that was described as a white Mercedes Benz. That vehicle was pursued back into Atlanta to an apartment complex in the vicinity of 183 Mt. Zion Road. Law enforcement continue to search in that area for these three robbers as well as a possible third switch vehicle described as a Dodge Caravan.

The robbers are described as follows:

• First robber: black male, age 28-35, 5’11”-6’0” in height, heavy set build, weighing 250-300 pounds, light to medium complexion
• Second robber: black male, age 24-28, 5’9” in height, 150-175 pounds, medium complexion
• Third robber: black male, age 24-28, 5’8” in height, medium build, medium complexion

All of the robbers were wearing black masks and black clothing and were armed with handguns.

Wells Fargo is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identity and arrest of the individuals responsible for this robbery.
