ATLANTA—Special Agent in Charge Brian D. Lamkin announces, on behalf of the FBI’s Safe Child Task Force, the following arrest at Dalton, Georgia:

Parth Patel, 20 years old, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, was arrested on Friday, January 20, 2012 by FBI agents and task force officers of the FBI-led Safe Child Task Force after coming to the attention of undercover officers on the Internet. Patel is currently facing state charges of child molestation and aggravated child molestation stemming from his efforts to have sex with a minor child. Patel arranged for and traveled in an attempt to meet the “mother” and their “minor child” for purposes of having sex. He was met instead by FBI agents and task force officers of the FBI’s Northwest Georgia Safe Child Task Force, where he was arrested.

Patel is being held at the Whitfield County, Georgia detention center.

The public should be reminded that the above are mere allegations and that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
