Dansville Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking

ROCHESTER, NY—U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Mark Salamone, 51, of Dansville, N.Y., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa, to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a fine of $1,000,000, or both.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brett A. Harvey, who is handling the case, stated that a joint federal and state investigation revealed that between June 2008 and October 2008, the defendant was responsible for obtaining approximately 29 grams of methamphetamine, 200 grams of cocaine, and 500 grams of marijuana, from a drug supplier in Rochester, N.Y. Salamone then distributed those drugs to others in the Western District of New York.
Salamone and 10 others were arrested for their involvement in the conspiracy. He is the final defendant to be convicted.
The plea is the culmination of an investigation on the part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Christopher M. Piehota; the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Dale M. Kasprzyk; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Frank Christiano; and the New York State Police, under the direction of Superintendent Joseph D’Amico.
Sentencing is scheduled for February 10, 2012, at 3:45 p.m. EST, in Rochester, N.Y., before Judge Siragusa.
