Franklin County Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Child Pornography Charges

U.S. Attorney’s Office June 22, 2011
  • Eastern District of Missouri

ST. LOUIS—The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Jeffrey Greenwell pled guilty to multiple counts of production of child pornography.

Greenwell, 39, Sullivan, Missouri, was scheduled to begin trial today. Instead, he pled guilty to five felony counts of production of child pornography, before United States District Judge Charles A. Shaw. According to court documents, between January 1, 2007 and October 23, 2009, Greenwell used five minor children to engage in sexually explicit conduct so he could photograph them.

Production of child pornography carries a penalty range of 15 to 30 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000. In determining the actual sentences, a Judge is required to consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, which provide recommended sentencing ranges.

Sentencing has been set for September 22, 2011.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the Regional Computer Crime Education and Enforcement Group. Assistant United States Attorney Carrie Costantin is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
