Portland Woman Sentenced in Connection with Portland Bank Robbery

PORTLAND, OR—Porsha Yante K. Armstrong, 37, was sentenced to serve 10 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marco A. Hernandez on April 2, 2012. The defendant pled guilty on January 10, 2012 to the crime of unarmed bank robbery after admitting she robbed a U.S. Bank on North Interstate Avenue.

Documents presented by the government show that on June 10, 2011,Armstrong robbed the North Interstate branch of U.S. Bank with the use of a threatening note. Shortly after the robbery, Armstrong was stopped in a vehicle and arrested, and the stolen money was recovered. Armstrong had prior convictions for burglary and robbery at the time of the offense.

This case was investigated by the Portland Police Bureau and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred Weinhouse.
