Pittsburgh Man Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Heroin Distribution Scheme

Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, May 13, 2010, that on May 12, 2010, Curtis Lawrence Burton, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to 72 months (6 years) in prison, to be followed by six years’ supervised release, on his conviction of violating the federal drug laws.
Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond imposed the sentence on Burton, age 27.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti, from in or around April 2007, and continuing thereafter until in or around February 2008, in the Western District of Pennsylvania and elsewhere, Burton conspired with others to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute more than 20 grams but less than 40 grams of heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance.
Mr. Cessar commended the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the West Mifflin Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Burton.
