$10,000 Reward for Information on String of Home Invasion Robberies Targeting Asian Business Owners

FBI Philadelphia September 02, 2010

Acting Special Agent in Charge (A/SAC) Jayne L. Challman announced this morning at a press conference hosted by Delaware County District Attorney G. Michael Green at Delaware County Community College that the FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for a series of armed home invasion robberies that have targeted Asian-American business owners since this past June.

The FBI is now heading up a collaborative investigative effort involving a number of local police departments, the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office, and the United States Attorney’s Office, to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for this series of home invasions and robberies. All of the victims have been Asian-American business owners with businesses and residences predominantly in Southwest Philadelphia and Delaware County, PA, and the home invasions have occurred primarily during the nighttime or early morning hours. It is believed that the subjects responsible for these robberies may have followed the victims home from their businesses in some of the cases, and attempted burglaries of several of the victims’ homes were reported prior to the robberies. Items taken in the home invasion robberies have included cash, jewelry, credit cards and electronics. There are no suspects at this time, and there have been no significant physical injuries as a result of these robberies.

“The FBI is coordinating with all of the law enforcement agencies in an effort to maximize the investigative resources being devoted to arresting the individuals responsible for these heinous and violent crimes,” said A/SAC Challman, “and we are anticipating that a successful conclusion to these collaborative efforts and investigations will be prosecutions at the federal level.”

The FBI and its law enforcement partners are seeking information about these robberies and those who may be responsible, and is also seeking to determine if there are additional crimes that may be unreported or additional victims that, for whatever reason, may not have come forward yet. Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI at 215-418-4000. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
