Man Sentenced to 21 Years for Sexually Abusing a Child

NEWPORT NEWS, VA—Darrell Walter Holmes, 38, of Chicago, Illinois, was sentenced today to 21 years in prison for aggravated sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.
Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement after sentencing by United States District Judge Mark S. Davis. Holmes was found guilty on March 26, 2010, following a four-day jury trial.
According to evidence presented at trial, Holmes was stationed in Japan with the Air Force when he made a child, between the ages of 6 and 7, sodomize him on two occasions.
This case was investigated by the FBI. Assistant United States Attorney Lisa R. McKeel is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
