Statement by Acting Assistant Director Mary Galligan on Sentencing of Rajat Gupta

FBI New York October 24, 2012
  • FBI New York Press Office (212) 384-2100

On the sentencing on Rajta Gupta, FBI Acting Assistant Director in Charge Mary Galligan said, “When he passed along insider information, Rajat Gupta not only violated ethical standards and the terms of his service on the Goldman Sachs board of directors. He broke the law. That is what he has to answer for today. The two-year sentence imposed should send a clear message: providing a tip to a friend, when the tip is insider information, has consequences.”
