Jury Convicts Ferriday Man of Drug Trafficking and Possession of Powder Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Marijuana, and Firearms

ALEXANDRIA, LA—United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced that a federal jury in Alexandria, La., has found Cedrick D. Saulsberry, 27, of Ferriday, La., guilty of possession with intent to distribute powder cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

According to court testimony, on July 31, 2010, Concordia Parish Sheriffs deputies searched Saulsberry’s home, and in the front yard, they found a BBQ pit which contained a bag of marijuana and crack cocaine. Inside the house, deputies found approximately 1.367 kilograms of powder cocaine, a small amount of crack cocaine, 2.4 pounds of marijuana, four sets of digital scales, three firearms, body armor, ammunition and unused small plastic baggies.

Saulsberry is scheduled to be sentenced on December 9, 2011. He faces a sentence of a minimum of five years’ incarceration to a maximum of 40 years’ incarceration, a $2 million fine, and up to four years’ supervised release following confinement, to be followed by an additional five years in prison for the conviction related to the firearms.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Ferriday Police Department, and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Allison D. Bushnell.
