Mission Man Sentenced on Sexual Abuse Charge

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission man charged with sexual abuse was sentenced on August 15, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Chester Dennis Marshall, a/k/a Dennis C. Marshall, age 43, was sentenced to 87 months in custody and five years of supervised release.

Marshall was indicted for two counts of sexual abuse by a federal grand jury in February 2011. On May 24, 2011, he pled guilty to count two of the indictment.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred during the evening hours of September 10, 2010, and into the early morning hours of September 11, 2010. The 16-year-old victim was at the home of Marshall and her mother, doing laundry and visiting her mother. She decided to spend the night and went to sleep in a spare bedroom, where Marshall sexually assaulted her.

This case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation and Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case.

Marshall was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals.
