MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced the filing of a one-count criminal complaint in U.S. District Court today, charging Chance D. Pagel, 32, Baraboo, Wisconsin, with aiding and abetting aggravated bank robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank in Baraboo. If convicted, Pagel faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.

The charge against Pagel is the result of an investigation conducted by the Baraboo Police Department, Sauk County Sheriff’s Department, and Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter M. Jarosz.

A charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
