Federal Prison Inmate Sentenced for Assault

MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Timothy Washington, 48, originally of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb to 33 months in federal prison for assaulting another inmate in federal prison with a dangerous weapon. Washington pleaded guilty to the charge on February 17, 2012.
Washington was incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution in Oxford, Wisconsin on June 21, 2011 when he stabbed another inmate with a homemade weapon or “shank.” The other inmate suffered 16 stab wounds, but survived the assault. Washington’s new sentence will be served consecutively to the federal sentence he is already serving for conspiring to distribute crack cocaine.
The charges against Washington were the result of an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and an internal investigation by the Special Investigation Unit at FCI-Oxford. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Meredith P. Duchemin.
