Springfield Man Indicted for Bank Robberies

SPRINGFIELD, MO—Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Springfield, Mo., man was indicted by a federal grand jury today for robbing two Springfield banks in 2008.
Mark Joseph Morris, 47, of Springfield, was charged in a two-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Springfield.
Today’s indictment alleges that Morris used an object that appeared to be a handgun to rob Bank of America, 2633 W. College Rd., Springfield, on Nov. 7, 2008, and Bank of America, 710 W. Sunshine, Springfield, on Nov. 21, 2008.
Phillips cautioned that the charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robyn L. McKee. It was investigated by the Springfield, Mo., Police Department and the FBI.
