Kansas Man Indicted for Two Bank Robberies

KANSAS CITY, MO—Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Kansas man was indicted by a federal grand jury today for two bank robberies.

Daniel Bryant Hill, 38, of Kansas City, Kan., was charged in a two-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Mo. Today’s indictment replaces a federal criminal complaint that was filed against Hill on Nov. 21, 2011, and adds an additional bank robbery count.

Today’s indictment alleges that Hill stole $4,429 from Commerce Bank, 12829 S. 71 Hwy., Grandview, Mo., on Nov. 18, 2011. According to an affidavit in support of the original criminal complaint, Hill passed a demand note to a bank teller. The teller removed money from her top drawer and gave it to Hill, the affidavit says, who then left the bank.

Hill is also charged with stealing $966 from U.S. Bank, 11204 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, Mo., on Sept. 8, 2011.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christina Y.Tabor. It was investigated by the FBI, the Grandview, Mo., Police Department and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.

Phillips cautioned that the charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
