Jefferson City Woman Pleads Guilty to Six Bank Robberies

JEFFERSON CITY, MO—Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Jefferson City, Mo., woman pleaded guilty in federal court today to committing six bank robberies.

Dwashan Trakese Thompson, 38, of Jefferson City, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Matt J. Whitworth to the charges contained in two separate indictments.

Thompson pleaded guilty to an indictment in the Western District of Missouri that charges her with two bank robberies.

Thompson admitted that she stole $1,605 from Missouri Credit Union in Jefferson City on Dec. 20, 2010. She also admitted that she stole $11,850 from Hawthorn Bank in Jefferson City on Dec. 28, 2010.

Thompson pleaded guilty to an indictment in the Eastern District of Missouri that charges her with four bank robberies. In each robbery, Thompson wore a black ski mask and demanded money from the tellers.

Thompson admitted that she stole $9,500 from Martinsburg Bank and Trust in Montgomery City, Mo., on Dec. 23, 2009. She also admitted that she stole $27,662 from Truman Bank in St. Peters, Mo., on Feb. 22, 2010. Thompson admitted that she stole $16,000 from First National Bank in Weldon Springs, Mo., on July 10, 2010. She also admitted that she stole $5,465 from St. Johns Bank and Trust in St. Charles, Mo., on Sept. 25, 2010.

Under federal statutes, Thompson is subject to a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison without parole on each count, plus a fine up to $250,000 per count. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lawrence E. Miller (Western District of Missouri) and Michael A. Bert (Eastern District of Missouri). It was investigated by the FBI.
