Federal Inmate Charged with Possession of a Weapon

INDIANAPOLIS—Odilon Molinero-Jimenez, 34, Federal Correctional Complex, Terre Haute, Indiana, was charged today with possession of a metal object which was a weapon or was designed or intended to be used as a weapon, announced Timothy M. Morrison, U.S. Attorney, Southern District of Indiana, following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The indictment alleges that on or about September 11, 2009, Molinero-Jimenez possessed a prohibited object to be used as a weapon while confined at the Federal Correctional Complex.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney James M. Warden, who is prosecuting the case for the government, Molinero-Jimenez faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. An initial hearing will be scheduled before a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
