“Wedding Band Bandit” Robs Capital One Bank

FBI Houston October 25, 2011
  • Special Agent Shauna Dunlap (713) 936-7638

Was your husband late for dinner last night? The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force needs your help identifying a seemingly married man who robbed a Capital One bank branch around 5:00 Monday night. The man’s wedding band was very visible in the bank surveillance photos taken during the robbery.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., the man entered the bank located at 11697 Westheimer Road in Houston, Texas. He walked up to the check-writing stand and then approached a teller with a threatening handwritten note that demanded money. The teller gave the man some cash and he left the bank. No weapon was seen during the robbery and no one was physically hurt. According to witnesses, the man fled the area in an older model white sedan, possibly a 1996 Toyota sedan.

The bank robber is described as a black male, 38-40 years old, 5’8”-5’9” tall, 170-180 pounds, with a thin build, and a dark brown complexion. He was clean-shaven with smooth skin. He wore a navy blue cap with the Polo Ralph Lauren logo on the front, a gray tee-shirt, navy blue sweatpants, and mirrored sun glasses. During the robbery, he carried a manila envelope with papers inside.

Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and arrest of this robber, or any felony suspect. If you have information about this crime, please call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 713-222-TIPS (8477), or the Houston office of the FBI at 713-693-5000.
