On Sunday, July 25, 2010, FBI Detroit Special Agent (SA) Christopher R. Johnson competed in an Ironman competition at Lake Placid, New York. The 140.6 mile race (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run) was completed by SA Johnson in 11:17:43. SA Johnson finished 436th out of nearly 2,700 individuals who started the race.

To train for this competition, SA Johnson had seven months of performing each event several times per week. This training, of course, was in addition to his already busy schedule of working as an FBI agent working in Detroit.

There were four additional FBI agents, from various other parts of the country, who competed in this race.
