Robbery of Wells Fargo Bank Branch in Westminster

The Westminster Police Department and the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force (RMSSTF) are investigating a bank robbery.

January 21, 2014, 4:08 p.m.

The two suspects are considered armed and dangerous.

They are males, unknown race, in their 20s. One is described as approximately 5’7” to 5’9” tall with a medium build. The second is 5’8” to 5’10” tall with a thin build.

Both were armed with handguns.

Investigators are asking for the media’s and public’s assistance in identifying these individuals that could have a change in spending habits involving large cash transactions.

The two individuals fled the scene in a stolen 1992 black Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle was stolen out of Unincorporated North Denver on Sunday morning. Westminster authorities recovered this vehicle in the area of the bank on Tuesday evening.

Wells Fargo Bank is offering a reward up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of these bank robbers.

Bank robbery is punishable by a 20-year prison sentence for each offense and increases if a dangerous weapon is used in the commission of the crime.

The FBI continues to provide financial institutions with the best practices for security to make them less vulnerable to robberies.
