Van Zandt County Man Guilty of Bank Robbery

TYLER, TX—A 41-year-old Canton, Texas man has pleaded guilty to bank robbery in the Eastern District of Texas announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.
Jay Scott McEvers pleaded guilty to armed bank robbery today before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.
According to information presented in court, on Nov. 2, 2009, McEvers and Carl Ray Davis robbed the Grand Saline branch of the Mineola Community Bank in Grand Saline, Texas. A federal grand jury returned an indictment on Nov. 4, 2009, charging McEvers and Davis with armed bank robbery.
Davis pleaded guilty on Mar. 31, 2010 and is awaiting sentencing. Both defendants face up to 25 years in federal prison. Sentencing dates have not been set.
This case is being investigated by the FBI, the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office, the Grand Saline Police Department, the Van Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard L. Moore.
