Suspect Arrested, Charged in Connection with Attempted Robby of MB Financial Bank Branch in Broadview

FBI Chicago May 08, 2012
  • Special Agent Garrett Croon (312) 829-1199

A 51-year-old Bellwood man was arrested and charged in connection with the May 7, 2012 robbery attempt of the MB Financial Bank branch located at 1500 W. Roosevelt Road in Broadview, Illinois. Donald R. Sherman of the 600 block of Bellwood Avenue was taken into custody without incident by Broadview police near the bank immediately following the robbery. He was later turned over to FBI agents.

Sherman was charged in a criminal complaint filed today in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of attempted bank robbery, which is a felony offense. Sherman appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael T. Mason, at which time he was ordered held pending his next scheduled court appearance. A copy of the complaint is attached.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
