New York Man Pleads Guilty to Interstate Violation of a Protection Order

U.S. Attorney’s Office March 28, 2011
  • District of Maine (207) 780-3257

BANGOR, ME—United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Jason Fiume, 27, of New York, pled guilty today in U.S. District Court in Bangor to one count of interstate violation of a protection order. Fiume faces a possible sentence of five years’ imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

Court records reveal that in June 2010, an order of protection was issued against Fiume by a court in Utica, New York. The protection order prohibited Fiume from having any contact of any kind with his wife. On the same day the order was issued, Fiume was released from jail in New York and began calling, e-mailing, texting, and contacting his wife in violation of the protection order. In less than a month, Fiume showed up at his wife’s parents’ home in Maine, where his wife was staying.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Maine State Police.
