Navajo Police Arrest Gallup Man Wanted for Christmas Day Stabbing

Calvin Bennie Fuson, who was wanted by the FBI and the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety in connection with a Christmas Day stabbing of an adult relative, has been arrested.

The Navajo Police Department arrested Fuson in Shiprock, New Mexico, on Monday, April 14, 2014.

Fuson is expected to have an initial federal court appearance in Farmington, New Mexico, on Thursday, April 17, 2014.

On January 22, 2014, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Fuson by the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, after he was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon with the intent to do bodily harm.

Fuson, of Gallup, New Mexico, is accused of stabbing the relative in the chest with a long kitchen knife in Naschitti, New Mexico, on the Navajo Indian Reservation, on December 25, 2013.

The relative survived.

No further information will be released until after Fuson’s court appearance.
