Roswell Man Sentenced to 151 Months in Prison for Federal Methamphetamine Trafficking and Firearms Conviction

U.S. Attorney’s Office September 20, 2011
  • District of New Mexico (505) 346-7274

LAS CRUCES, NM—This afternoon in federal court in Las Cruces, a United States District Judge sentenced William Cadman, 29, of Roswell, New Mexico to a 151-month term of imprisonment for his conviction on federal drug and firearms charges. Cadman will be on supervised release for five years after he completes his prison sentence.

United States Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales said that Cadman entered a guilty plea to a two-count criminal information charging him with (1) possession of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and (2) being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, on April 13, 2011. During his plea hearing, Cadman admitted committing the two offenses in Chaves County on December 10, 2010. More specifically, Cadman admitted possessing approximately 71 grams of pure methamphetamine that he intended to distribute and four firearms. Cadman was prohibited from possessing firearms because he previously had been convicted of three methamphetamine trafficking offenses in the Fifth Judicial District Court for the State of New Mexico in Chaves County.

Court records reflect that on, December 10, 2010, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Chaves County Metro Narcotics Task Force executed search warrants at Cadman’s residence in Roswell and Cadman’s vehicle. During the two searches, law enforcement officers agents seized methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a .45 caliber Kahr Arms semi-automatic carbine “Tommy Gun,” two other rifles, and a 9 mm handgun. Cadman was arrested on December 10, 2010 and has been in federal custody since that time.

The case was investigated by the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Chaves County Metro Narcotics Task Force, and the Roswell Police Department, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nathan J. Lichvarcik.
