Bloomfield Man Pleads Guilty to Eight Bank Robberies

Earlier today, Kacey Allen Fisher, 34, a resident of Bloomfield, New Mexico, pled guilty to committing eight bank robberies in the Districts of New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado before United States Magistrate Judge Alan C. Torgerson. Fisher, who has been in federal since his arrest on August 7, 2008, entered his plea under an agreement with the United States Attorney’s Office. Specifically, Fisher plead guilty to an eight-count information charging him with robbing three banks in New Mexico, three banks in Arizona, and two banks in Colorado.

Fisher has been in federal custody in the District of New Mexico since his arrest on August 7, 2008. In the plea agreement, Fisher and the United States agree to recommend that Fisher be sentenced to a 151-month term of imprisonment. Fisher’s sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.

Court records reflect that on April 4, 2008, a federal grand jury in New Mexico indicted Fisher and a co-defendant on three counts of bank robbery. Thereafter, on May 8, 2008, a federal grand jury in Colorado indicted Fisher and his co-defendant on two counts of bank robbery and two counts of using a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. On July 28, 2010, a federal grand jury in Arizona indicted Fisher and his co-defendant on three counts of bank robbery.

United States Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales said that Fisher agreed to have the charges pending in Arizona and Colorado transferred to New Mexico so that he could resolve all three cases at the same time.

In his plea agreement, Fisher admitted that, between February 25, 2008 and April 3, 2008, he and his co-defendant committed the following eight bank robberies:

• February 25, 2008 – Bank of the West, located in San Manuel, Pinal County, Arizona.
• February 28, 2008 – Four Corners Community Bank, located in Farmington, San Juan County, New Mexico.
• March 11, 2008 – Mission Bank, located in Bullhead City, Mohave County, Arizona.
• March 13, 2008 – Bank of American, located in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona.
• March 21, 2008 – Four Corners Community Bank, located in Farmington, San Juan County, New Mexico.
• March 26, 2008 – Bank of San Juan, located in Durango, La Plata County, Colorado.
• April 1, 2008 – First Southwest Bank of Pagosa Springs, located in Pagosa Springs, Archuleta County, Colorado.
• April 3, 2008 – Animas Credit Union, located in Farmington, San Juan County, New Mexico.

Fisher admitted that he entered each of the foregoing banks and demanded and took money from bank employees while his co-defendant waited outside, serving as the getaway driver. Fisher is required to pay restitution to each of the victim banks under the terms of his plea agreement.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assistance from local, county, and state authorities in New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kimberly A. Brawley.
