El Paso Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

United States Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales announced that, earlier today, Francisco Gonzalez, Jr., 51, a resident of El Paso, Texas, pled guilty to an indictment charging him with bank robbery before United States Magistrate Judge W. Daniel Schneider under a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. During today’s hearing, Gonzalez admitted robbing the New Mexico Bank & Trust branch located at 3002 Louisiana Blvd. NE in Albuquerque on August 17, 2010.

Gonzalez was arrested on August 17, 2010 shortly after robbing the bank and was formally charged in a criminal complaint on August 18, 2010. Gonzalez remains in custody pending sentencing, which has yet to be scheduled. He faces up to 20 years of imprisonment, a maximum $250,000 fine, and up to five years of supervised release.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Albuquerque Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lynn W.Y. Wang.
