The Norfolk Division honors Ms. Chandra Moyer, founder of Release Me International (RMI), for her dedication to the furtherance of crime prevention and education.

RMI was inspired by Ms. Moyer’s work in Uganda, where she learned firsthand about the devastating effects of human trafficking. She worked with former child soldiers who were rescued from the Lord’s Resistance Army. As an ordained minister, Chandra worked in collaborative partnership with a non-governmental organization to help war-affected youth overcome emotional trauma.

RMI’s mission is to create awareness and prevent child exploitation and sex trafficking through the education of youth, school administrators, health care professionals, and law enforcement. During the last two years, RMI successfully helped educate more than 1,000 individuals in the Norfolk area alone. In addition, Chandra’s partnerships with non-governmental organizations have had an impact on victims in Tanzania, the Philippines, and Uganda.

RMI also maintains a robust website for outreach regarding child sex trafficking. The website offers resources for prevention, awareness, and victim services and provides real-world victim examples that are used as educational tools.
