Quincy Man Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison

SPRINGFIELD, IL—U.S. District Judge Sue E. Myerscough has sentenced Jonathan Dewayne Cashion, 20, of Quincy, Illinois, to serve 40 years in federal prison. Cashion was sentenced yesterday after pleading guilty in May to production of child pornography, as well as distribution and possession of child pornography.

Cashion has remained in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service since his arrest on February 15, 2012.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Quincy Police Department; and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew J. Cannon prosecuted the case with the cooperation of the Adams County State’s Attorney’s Office.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
