Marion Penitentiary Inmate Sentenced for Abusive Sexual Contact with Staff Member

An inmate from the United States Penitentiary at Marion, Illinois, was sentenced today in United States District Court in Benton to an additional 24 months in prison for abusive sexual contact with a female prison staff member on April 25, 2011, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced. Andrew Anderson Jr., 44, had previously pled guilty to that charge on July 18, 2011. Anderson was serving a 210-month sentence for conspiring to distribute cocaine at the time of this offense, and the 24-month sentence was imposed consecutively to that term of imprisonment.
Evidence introduced in support of the guilty plea and sentence showed that Anderson grabbed a female medical staff member’s hand and placed it on his genitals. Anderson admitted that he did so for his own sexual gratification.
In addition to the 24-month term of imprisonment, Anderson was ordered to pay a total of $200 in fines and special assessments and was placed on a one year term of supervised release to follow his incarceration. Anderson will also be required to register as a sex offender upon release.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney James M. Cutchin.
