Sacaton Man Sentenced to 37 Months in Prison for Stabbing

PHOENIX—Eli Jackson, 44, of Sacaton, Ariz. was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Frederick J. Martone to 37 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Jackson pleaded guilty on June 20, 2011, to assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The assault occurred on February 17, 2011, on the Gila River Indian Reservation, when Jackson intentionally stabbed the victim with a knife and thereby caused the victim serious bodily injury.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Gila River Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution was handled by Heather H. Belt, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
