Former Pelham Middle School Teacher Indicted for Enticement of a Minor

LEV L. DASSIN, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that GREGG CAVALUZZI, 34, a former Pelham middle school teacher who was arrested on May 31, 2009, in Elmsford, Westchester County, New York, was charged today in a one count indictment with attempting to entice a minor– specifically, an undercover officer posing as a 15 year old girl–to meet with him for the purpose of engaging in sexual intercourse. If found guilty of that offense, CAVALUZZI faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum term of imprisonment of life.

Mr. DASSIN praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Westchester County Police Department in the case.

Assistant United States Attorney KATHRYN M. MARTIN is in charge of the prosecution.The charge contained in the Indictment is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
