Former Jefferson Parish Chief Administrative Officer Charged in One-Count Bill of Information

NEW ORLEANS—TIMOTHY A. WHITMER, a/k/a TIM WHITMER (“WHITMER”), age 51, a resident of Jefferson Parish, was charged this morning in a one-count bill of information with misprision of a felony, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.
If convicted, WHITMER faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison, followed by one year of supervised release, and a $250,000.00 fine.
U.S. Attorney Letten reiterated that a bill of information is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Because this charge was filed in connection with an ongoing, pending criminal prosecution in United States District Court, United States Attorney Jim Letten has stated that no additional facts or details or comments are available at this time.
The case is being investigated by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Brian M. Klebba, Salvador R. Perricone, James R. Mann, Gregory Kennedy and Matt Chester.
