Three Men Indicted on Federal Drug Charges

DERRICK JOHNSON, age 35; JARVIS QUINN JACKSON, age 50; and CLIFTON MATTHEW NICHOLSON, age 23, all from the Laplace, Louisiana area, were charged today in a two-count indictment by a federal grand jury for violations of the Federal Controlled Substances Act involving conspiracy to possess and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.
If convicted, each defendants faces a possible maximum term of imprisonment of 40 years, a maximum fine of $5 million, and four years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
U.S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendants must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
This investigation was investigated by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward J. Rivera.
