New Orleans Woman Sentenced for Bank Theft

EDMONIA HALEY, age 44, of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced in federal court today before U.S. District Judge Helen Berrigan to three (3) years probation for bank theft, announced United States Attorney Jim Letten. In addition, HALEY was ordered to pay $3,125.75 in restitution.
According to court documents, in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Fireman’s Federal Credit Union suffered a computer malfunction that allowed unfettered access to cash for account holders through ATM machines. Knowing this, HALEY stole approximately $3,125.75 from the Credit Union between August 29, 2005 and September 6, 2006.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney G. Dall Kammer.
