St. Tammany Drug Dealers Receive Lengthy Federal Jail Sentences

NATHANIEL JACKSON III, age 24, of Covington, Louisiana, was sentenced in federal court today by U.S. District Judge Jay Zainey to twenty (20) years (240 months) in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute cocaine base (crack) between August 13, 2008, and November 26, 2008, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten. Additionally, JACKSON’S cousin, KALIC K. JACKSON, was sentenced to ten (10) years (120 months) in prison for his role in the conspiracy.

NATHANIEL JACKSON, III, KALIC JACKSON, and their co-defendants, Destiny C. Route, age 27, Nathaniel Jackson, Jr., age 52, (Nathaniel’s father), Kendrick D. Chatman, Jr., age 36, and Kenneth D. Davidson, age 31, all residents of Covington, Louisiana, have all pled guilty to their respective roles in this crack distribution ring. Chatman was sentenced to ten (10) years (120 months) of imprisonment on January 19, 2010. Route received a sentence of thirty-three (33) months of imprisonment. Davidson is scheduled to be sentenced on March 23, 2010; and Nathaniel Jackson, Jr. is scheduled to be sentenced on March 16, 2010.

Based on court records, NATHANIEL JACKSON, III was responsible for distributing at least one hundred ninety-two (192) grams of crack cocaine; and KALIC JACKSON was responsible for distributing at least fifty-one (51) grams or crack cocaine. NATHANIEL JACKSON, III also has a prior felony conviction for possession of cocaine.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Cox of the Violent Crime Unit.
