Former Pharmacist Technician Sentenced in Federal Court
Drugs Dispensed without Valid Prescriptions

U.S. Attorney’s Office May 21, 2009
  • Western District of Louisiana (318) 676-3641

SHREVEPORT, LA—United States Attorney Donald W. Washington announced that HOLLI GAY PALMER, age 26, of Homer, Louisiana, was sentenced by United States District Judge Tom Stagg to two years of federal supervised probation for dispensing Hydrocodone without a valid prescription.

PALMER, a former pharmacist technician at Brookshire’s Pharmacy in Homer, Louisiana, plead guilty on February 26, 2009, to distribution of Hydrocodone, a Schedule III controlled substance. PALMER was indicted November 19, 2008, by a Federal Grand Jury in a ten-count indictment.

The FBI investigation revealed that PALMER illegally dispensed approximately 2,340 Hydrocodone tablets to three acquaintances over the course of four months. Store records showed that proper payment was made for the drugs and there was no available evidence that PALMER profited from the transactions.

Sentencing in federal court is determined by the discretion of federal judges and the governing statute. Parole has been abolished in the federal system.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney J. Scott Williams.
