Pine Ridge Man Indicted on Drug Charges

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pine Ridge man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly conspiring to distribute marijuana and for distributing marijuana near Pine Ridge.

David Mousseau, age 32, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 22, 2012 for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on March 12, 2012 and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction of each count is five years’ imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. The charges are merely accusations, and Mousseau is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura A. Shattuck is prosecuting the case. Mousseau was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
