Mission Man Charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor Sentenced

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission, South Dakota man charged with sexual abuse of a minor was sentenced on November 14, 2011, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Edward Zane Roubideaux, Jr., age 21, was sentenced to 18 months in custody, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
Roubideaux was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 12, 2011. During the time period of June 1, 2010, to June 30, 2010, Edward Zane Roubideaux, Jr. engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim, at a time that she was 13 years old and he was over 19 years old. Roubideaux is five years, 10½ months older than the victim. Roubideaux knew the victim was too young to have sex with.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher prosecuted the case.
Roubideaux was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal.
