Fort Totten Woman Pleads Guilty to Federal Drug Charges

GRAND FORKS—United States Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on April 18, 2011, Leslie Yankton, a/k/a Leslie Guy, of Fort Totten, North Dakota, pleaded guilty before United States District Court Judge Ralph R. Erickson to a charge of distribution of a controlled substance.

Yankton, 35, pleaded guilty to distributing a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance. The incident occurred in March of 2010 on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.

The charge of distribution of a controlled substance carries a statutory maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Sentencing for Yankton has been scheduled for June 30, 2011, in United States District Court in Grand Forks, North Dakota, at 2:00 p.m.
