Pine Ridge Man Guilty of Sexual Act with Young Girl

Acting US Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced that Fernando Fabian White Butterfly, age 24, of Pine Ridge, appeared before Chief US District Judge Karen E. Schreier on October 7, 2009, and pled guilty to an indictment that charged him with Sexual Abuse of a Minor. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 15 years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. In September 2008, White Butterfly engaged in a sexual act with a girl under the age of 16. The investigation was conducted by the FBI, and the case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Carolyn G. Olson. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for January 11, 2009. The defendant remanded to the custody of the US Marshal pending sentencing.
