Madison Man Sentenced to 97 Months for Possessing Child Pornography

U.S. Attorney’s Office November 02, 2011
  • Western District of Wisconsin (608) 264–5158

MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Alejandro Rodriguez Mora, 34, a Mexican citizen who was living in Madison, was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb to 97 months in prison for possessing child pornography. This prison term will be followed by a lifetime-period of supervised release. Rodriguez Mora pleaded guilty to this charge on August 23, 2011.

In sentencing Rodriguez Mora, Judge Crabb noted that it was a very serious crime and expressed concern about some of the items found in Rodriguez Mora’s home, including a telescope, lubricating jelly, condoms, inhalants, and children’s clothing.

The charges against Rodriguez Mora were the result of an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Meredith Duchemin.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
