Camden Man Sentenced to 92 Months’ Imprisonment

EL DORADO, AR—Valdez Ezell Hall, age 36, of Camden, Arkansas, was sentenced to 92 months’ imprisonment with no parole and two years’ supervised release today for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, announced Conner Eldridge, United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. Judge Harry F. Barnes imposed the sentence in U.S. District Court in El Dorado, Arkansas.

On March 30, 2010, after receiving information regarding shots being fired, officers with the Camden Police Department set up surveillance in a neighborhood in Camden, Arkansas. During the surveillance, officers observed Hall pull up to a residence in the neighborhood in a small black vehicle and exit carrying a firearm.

On October 6, 2010, Hall entered a plea of guilty to the Indictment charging him with having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, possessed one or more of the following firearms, specifically a SWD Inc. M-11 9mm pistol, serial number obliterated, and a Glock 9mm pistol, serial number ESV705, all of which had previously traveled in interstate commerce, in violation of Title 18, U.S.C. §§ 922(g)(1), 924(a)(2) and 924(e)(1).

The case was investigated by the Camden Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Matthew Quinn prosecuted the case for the United States.
