Suspect Arrested in Robbery of First Tennessee Bank Branch in Maryville

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chief Tony Crisp of the Maryville Police Department (MPD) announce the arrest of the man suspected of robbing a First Tennessee Bank today.

At approximately 9:03 a.m. today, the suspect entered the First Tennessee Bank located at 2441 U.S. Highway 411 South in Maryville, Tennessee, threatened that he had a gun, and demanded money. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The Maryville Police Department and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, composed of the FBI, Knoxville Police Department, and Knox County Sheriff’s Office, have arrested Richard Buckner, 49, of Maryville, Tennessee, in connection with this robbery. This is a joint investigation of the FBI SSTF and MPD.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
