Illegal Alien Sentenced for East Texas Drug Trafficking

TYLER, TX—A 28-year-old Mexican national has been sentenced to federal prison for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

Jose Santos Rubio Guido pleaded guilty on Oct. 19, 2010, to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and was sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Michael H. Schneider.

According to information presented in court, on Jan. 8, 2010, Rubio Guido delivered approximately 56 grams of powder cocaine to his co-defendant, Alfredo Bello Dejesus. On June 11, 2010, Rubio Guido possessed another five grams of powder cocaine with the intent to distribute. From January 2009 to June 11, 2010, Rubio Guido delivered or aided and abetted in the delivery of approximately 50 to 75 additional grams of powder cocaine. All of Rubio Guido’s co-defendants have pleaded guilty in this case. A federal grand jury returned an indictment on July 14, 2010 charging Rubio Guido with federal drug trafficking violations. He will be deported following the completion of his federal prison sentence.

This case was investigated by the Texas DPS, Homeland Security Investigations, FBI, DEA, IRS, and ATF and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Noble.
