A 51-year-old Zion man has been charged with the July 18 robbery of the TCF Bank branch located at 3124 N. Lewis Avenue in Waukegan.

Larry D. Williams, whose last known address was 2115 Emmaus Avenue in Zion, was charged in a criminal complaint filed on Friday in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of bank robbery, which is a felony offense. Williams was taken into custody last night by agents of the FBI and officers from the Chicago Police Department, without incident, in the 4800 Block of S. Michigan Avenue in Chicago. He appeared today before Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Cole, at which time he was formally charged. Williams was ordered held pending his next scheduled court appearance, which is set for Thursday, July 26.

Although not charged, Williams is also believed to be responsible for the July 2 robbery of another TCF Bank branch in Waukegan, located at 922 N. Green Bay Road.

Waukegan Police Department provided assistance in the bank robbery investigation.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
